1. Drink water from a copper vessel

​Medical science is taking a keen interest in the antibacterial properties of copper. Many experiments have been conducted in the last few years and scientists have discovered that water has a memory of its own - it remembers everything it touches. Because of the memory of water, we pay attention to what type of vessel we store it in.


First develop the habit of eating the right kind of food, then think of fasting. If you try to forcibly stop your desire to eat, it will harm your body.

If you keep water in a copper vessel overnight or at least for four hours, it absorbs some of the properties of copper.

This water is good for your liver in particular and for your health and energy in general. If water is pumped at a great speed and reaches your house through iron or plastic pipes after taking numerous turns, then it gets contaminated due to rubbing and colliding with all these turns. But water has the power to return to its original form along with memory. If you keep this tap water without stirring it for an hour, then the contamination disappears automatically.

2. Give rest to the body, not sleep

​What time you go to sleep depends on your lifestyle, but what matters is how many hours of sleep you need. It is often said that you should sleep for eight hours a day. What your body needs is not sleep, it is rest. If you give rest to your body throughout the day, if your work, your exercise, everything is like a rest for you, then automatically your hours of sleep will decrease. People want to do everything under stress. I have seen that people are under stress even while walking in the park. Now this kind of exercise will harm you instead of benefiting you, because you are taking everything as if you are fighting a war. Why don't you walk comfortably? Whether it is walking or jogging, why can't you do it with full fun and comfort?

So the question comes back to how much sleep does my body need? It depends on the type of physical work you do. You neither need to decide the quantity of food nor the hours of sleep. I have to eat only this much calories, I have to sleep only this much, all these are useless things to live life. If the level of physical work you are doing today is less, then you eat less. If you have to work more tomorrow, then you eat more. It is the same with sleep. When your body gets complete rest, it will wake up whether it is 3 am or 8 am. Your body should not wake up when the alarm bell rings. Once the body rests, it should wake up on its own.

3. Fast once in two weeks

​There is something called 'mandala' related to the natural cycle of your body. Mandala means that every 40 to 48 days the body goes through a particular cycle.

There are three days in every cycle in which your body does not need food. If you become aware of your body, then you will yourself realize that the body does not need food during these days. You can easily live without food on any one of these days.

There comes a day in 11 to 14 days when you will not feel like eating anything. You should not eat on that day. You will be surprised to know that dogs and cats are also so aware. If you observe carefully, they do not eat anything on a particular day. Actually, they are fully aware of their system. The day when the system says that they should not eat today, that day becomes the day of body cleansing for them and they do not eat anything on that day. Now you do not have so much awareness that you can recognize those special days. Then what should be done! Just to solve this problem, the day of Ekadashi was fixed here. If we look according to the Hindi months, Ekadashi comes once in every 14 days. This means that every 14 days you can stay without eating for one day. If you cannot live without eating anything or your work is such that you cannot afford to stay hungry and you do not have the strength to stay hungry, then you can eat fruits. Overall, the point is that you should just become aware of your system.

One more thing, if you are used to drinking tea and coffee frequently and try to fast then you will face a lot of trouble. There is only one solution to this problem. If you want to fast then first of all improve your eating habits. First make a habit of eating the right kind of food, then think of fasting. If you try to forcibly stop your desire to eat then it will harm your body. One more thing is very important here that under no circumstances should you force yourself.

4. Sit with your back straight

​There is a special importance of the internal organs of the body being at rest. There are many aspects of this. For now we are considering only one aspect of it. Most of the important internal organs of the body are located in the chest and abdominal region. All these organs are neither rigid nor fixed at one place with nuts or bolts. All these organs are loose and hanging inside a net. These organs can get maximum comfort only when you make a habit of sitting with your spine straight.

According to modern ideas, comfort means sitting with back rest or bending over. But sitting like this never gives rest to the body parts.

In this position, the body organs do not function as well as they should - especially when you recline after a hearty meal. A lot of travel is done in recliners these days. If you travel a thousand kilometers in a comfortable car seat, you lose at least three to five months of your life. This is because sitting in such a posture for a long time affects your organs so much that their ability to function is dramatically reduced or they become very weak.

Keeping the body straight does not mean that we do not like relaxation, but the simple reason for this is that we understand and feel relaxation in a completely different way. You can make your muscles habituated to remain relaxed even by keeping your spine straight. But on the contrary, when your muscles are bent, you cannot keep your organs relaxed. There is no other way to relax. Therefore, it is important that we prepare our body in such a way that our body structure and nervous system remain in a relaxed state while keeping the spine straight.


5. Live life by connecting with the five elements

​We were telling some people that we have a yogic hospital in our yoga center, so some doctors from America wanted to see it and they came here. They were here for a week and after a week they were very angry with me. I said – “Why, what did I do? They were talking all over – “All this nonsense! Sadhguru said a yogic hospital here! Where is the yogic hospital? We don’t see any beds, we don’t see anything”. Then I understood what their problem was, then I called them and I said – “What is the problem” One of the women, with tears in her eyes, said – I came here with so much faith and here I am being deceived, there is no hospital here, absolutely nothing here and you are saying that there is a hospital here. I said – “Sit down comfortably. Your idea about a hospital is that – there should be many beds where you can put the patients to sleep and keep giving them medicines – this hospital is not like that. Let me show you around – all the patients are here working in the garden, and working in the kitchen. We make them work, and they get better.

So, the most important thing is that if somebody is sick, we make them work in the garden. They have to be in contact with the earth with their bare hands for at least half an hour to 45 minutes. By doing this, they become healthy. Because what you call the body is just a piece of this earth, isn't it? Yes or no? All those countless people who walked on this earth, where have they all gone? All are on the surface of the earth, aren't they? This body will also go to the surface of the earth – unless your friends – for fear that you might wake up again – bury you very deep. So, it is just a piece of the earth. So it will be at its best if you keep some contact with the earth. Right now you are walking on the 50th floor all the time in suits and boots, and never come in contact with the earth. So it is natural for you to become sick physically and mentally. Then I showed them – “Look, this person has heart disease, that person has that disease. I introduced them to all the patients and then the patients started telling their stories – “Three weeks ago we were like this, and now we are feeling very good, we have forgotten our disease.” And now all the medical parameters are also saying that they are fine. We had to work very hard to convince the American doctor that these people are really patients. We are also putting them to very  good work.
